  • Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF)

ACARF serves to provide a safe and loving home for cats and dogs in our community who are lost, abandoned, or unwanted. The organization also helps animals recover from illness, injury, or emotional suffering they have endured and works to find caring and responsible homes for our adoptable pets. ACARF serves to educate the public regarding pet care and animal overpopulation, and to help implement methods to improve these areas.

The Allen County Historical Society is headquartered at the Allen County Museum in Iola, Kansas. The Society was formed in 1956 in a burst of enthusiasm that carried over from the Allen County Centennial Celebration of 1955.

Hope Unlimited was formed in 1984 to provide victim assistance in the rural, southeast Kansas counties of Allen, Anderson, Neosho and Woodson.  At that time, the board of directors took victims into their own homes to provide them with a safe place to stay.  Since then, Hope Unlimited has grown and now provides a multitude of services to men, women and children who have experienced family violence, sexual assault or sexual abuse.
